LSI (Legal Solutions Plus) to ProDoc Importer

We removed the auto-run feature for the LSI to ProDoc Importer. This means that the Importer will not automatically open when you install future updates from the CD. However, the Importer is still available in the event you need to use it.

If you have previously used the Importer and brought in LSI client and case data to ProDoc, you do not need to do so again for the same files. So, if you have previously used the Importer, use it only for bringing in data for additional files you have not previously imported.

Conducting a second import of the same clients and cases will create double clients and cases in ProDoc.

As stated above, the Importer is still available to you. To access it, go to your computer desktop and locate the Importer shortcut icon. Use that desktop icon to open the Importer and import any additional files, as required.

For instructions on using the Importer, view our PowerPoint slideshow or view this PDF document.

Remember that data available to import is limited to certain data in the Case Profile only. All other LSI client and case data is stored in an LSI format that is not accessible to the Importer.

Downloading the Importer

In case you need to download and install the Importer on your system, we are keeping that feature available for you. Follow the instructions below to download it.

After you download and install the Importer you will be able to move profile information stored in the LSI program into corresponding client and case files in ProDoc.

And, once you begin generating your documents in ProDoc instead of LSI, you’ll quickly see how much time ProDoc saves you by saving all client and case data you enter when generating documents in ProDoc. Unlike LSI, you will not need to enter the same information time after time when you generate subsequent documents. This saves you time and reduces the possibility of keying errors.

This is a three-step process:

  1. Download the LSI Importer installation program (instructions below)
  2. Install the Importer on the computer(s) where LSI data resides (instructions on our PowerPoint slideshow or PDF document)
  3. Run the Importer to bring LSI data into ProDoc to create Clients and Cases (instructions on our PowerPoint slideshow or PDF document)

Save Time and Reduce Errors by Using ProDoc Clients and Cases
One of the biggest time savers in ProDoc is the fact that it saves all data you key in and re-uses that data on any new documents you draft. LSI and other competitors save only the basic client and case profile information—requiring you to re-key all the other form data over-and-over again for every form you generate.

But, ProDoc can only store your client and case data when you take the time at the inception of a case to create a Client and Case so ProDoc has a file in which to save that data for you. We recommend that you make Creating a Client and Case in ProDoc a standard practice when opening a new case.

The Importer will automatically create for you a client and case for data it imports from LSI. However, you need to create a Client and Case for any new clients you add.

Using the New Profile Forms in ProDoc
We recently added Profile forms in every ProDoc volume except Lipman’s Wills & Trusts. Use them in a similar fashion as you used the Profile forms in LSI. You will find the Profile form for each volume listed as the first form in the Form Selector.

While there is no reason to not complete the Profile form at the inception of a new case, you will find that it is not necessary since all the information in the Profile form will be captured and saved by ProDoc when you set up a Client and Case and generate one or two documents for the case.
